Selena Gomez was born in
Grand Prarie, Texas. Her father is Ricardo
Gomez and her mother is stage actress
Mandy Teefey. Her father left them and her mother was left alone to fend for themselves. Still Selena showed great talent for acting and singing and her mother encouraged her.
Selena landed a role on
Barney and Friends (2002-2003) where she also met her best friend
Demi Lovato.
The episodes featuring her were released late and by the time
Selena had slightly grown up. But she still found some work and made her big-screen debut in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over (2003). The role was just a small part but more than enough to get her noticed. She then did a TV movie
Walker,
Texas Ranger:
Trial by Fire (2005). She also played a guest role in Disney Channel’s
Suite life of Zack and Cody. This helped her get noticed by Disney, opening up opportunity to work with them. She did two movies with Disney
Another Cinderella Story (2008) and
Princess Protection Program (2009). But her best work is the show Wizards of Waverly Place. She plays the lead and the show is currently enjoying a great run on
the Disney Channel. It has also made
Selena very popular amongst children.
Having had hit
such great heights of popularity, Selena is busy working in a lot of TV shows and movies. Her last film was
Scooby-Doo!
Camp Scare (2010) which was released straight to
DVD.
